Resident Expert: Mr. Darcy

Mr. Darcy.

Saying that name gives me chills.

He's my literary crush, my escape, my dream of what could be.

The inquisitive brow, the fancy cravat... what's not to love?

Alright, I know that this isn't really Mr. Darcy...

PROOF

...but let me pretend, okay?

There have been numerous other Mr. Darcys...

...but I'll always associate Matthew Macfayden with Mr. Darcy. Sorry, Colin.

Even cravat-less he is glorious.

I'm thinking I should post more on this subject, like how my standards are impossibly high because of this literary figure, but alas, my mouse is broken and it upsets me greatly.

Please comment on the magnificence that is Mr. Darcy.

Yes, Mr. Darcy IS magnificent no matter who plays him, hehe.

In fact, I love Mr. Darcy SOOOO much that I named my daughter after him.

Yes, her name is Darcy.

Now, that's the ultimate show of love, right? :)

Glam, I love that your daughter's name is Darcy! I've been jealous ever since I found out (and saw how adorable she is)!

I had a fish named Darcy once. I'm not kidding.

And who doesn't have dreams of Mr. Darcy? I remember when I read P&P for the first time the summer between my Junior and Senior years of high school. I immediately went to the library and checked out the entire BBC mini-series. I watched the entire thing one Saturday afternoon.

Me = Huge Dork

I don't know what to add.
Your Resident Expert posts are quickly become one of my favorite things about Fridays.
I thank you. And Jane Austen.

LiLa: I'm guilty of that too. The BBC thing, I mean. My sister's in charge of naming the fish, mostly because of the time I tried to name one Aragorn. Yeah.

Sarah: Thanks! I'm glad to hear I'm not completely crazy for publicly drooling over hotties.

Yeah I love your resident expert days. They're just awesome! And Mr. Darcy, ah how I adore him, have you ever seen the six hour Pride and Prejudice? It's a masterpiece, if you haven't seen it watching it is a must. Especially for a Darcy fan though it isn't Matthew Macfayden still a great movie.

Great Post - how could I not love it. I never realized how much Laurence Olivier and Colin Firth look alike. Sorry I'm not down with Matthew Madfayden. He was o.k., but a little wishy washy for me. Colin Firth all the way for me.

Hayley: Yes, I have seen it. If you walk away from this blog only knowing one thing about me, it should be that I'm a Jane Austen buff.

sraasch: I honestly want to frame the last picture.

Mary: Thanks for stopping by! I also love Colin Firth, but there's just something about Matthew that makes me all giggly.

I loved Matthew Macfayden in P&P too! I rarely buy DVD's, but I got that one after I saw it on HBO (or whatever channel it was on).

OMG! I watch my DVD with Matthew Macfayden at least once a week! My mom and become physically "giddy" when he helps Elizabeth onto the coach when as she leaves her sister's "sick" stay with them-and he clenches his hand!
AND- The rain scene!! I DIE!!
Then, she goes to his house and the way he looks at her when he introduces his sister to Elizabeth! We MELT!
Then-of COURSE in the morning meadow scene when he falters with the "I love...I love...I love you!"-My mom and I just hold onto each other and want to cry!
We've forced my Dad to watch the movie SO MANY times-he knows EVERYBODy's name! It's so funny to see him do his Mr. Bennet impression!
That movie/book ALWAYS puts me in a better mood! AND it made me want to have like 4 kids!
OOH! AND- my kitten, Jasmine's FULL name is Jasmine Macaroon Bennet! I want a puppy in the next couple of years, and I want to name him Mr. Darcy!
AND- I actually posted a FULL version of the movie on my blog here if u don't own the dvd! :)

...so...yeah! I'm gonna cut off my 'P&P' rant before the length of it forces it into novel territory! :)
