Mariah is not here.

She is at college.

She is not reading Mockingjay. Mostly because it hasn't arrived yet.

Here's a random website.

Go there for a random surprise.

"Bluebirds in Spring" and "Mini Muffins" are Mariah's favorites.

In Which I Won't Talk About MOCKINGJAY

Mockingjay was released today. I'm trying not to think about it. I've preordered it from Amazon, of course, but only recently because I wasn't sure if I would be back at school when it came out. So, as I sit in Maryland, my book is probably being sent to North Carolina.

So, seriously, what else is there to talk about?!

Umm... I just watched the movie "Babies" and it was frackin' adorable.

Bayar was my favorite!

And now...

*runs away into self-imposed Mockingjay hiatus so she doesn't accidentally read spoilers*

I hope that makes up for Friday.

Resident Expert: Lady Gaga

Alright, alright. I give in. This is my public confession.

*phew* It feels good to get that off my chest.

Seriously, though. This lady fascinates me. Sure, it's in a "what-the-crap" kind of way, but still. Fascinated.

And I actually listen to her music. Repeatedly. Unlike other pop stars, I don't mind listening to her songs more than once. Her songs grow on me over time, and they're a nice addition to my otherwise mellow iPod music.

I read somewhere that she's working on a collaboration with David Bowie. Many say this is just a hoax, but I wish on McHotVoice's hot voice that it's true.

See? It's meant to be.

So... what's your favorite Lady Gaga song? Do you like her at all?

Hey bloggy friends. You know who's awesome? Stephanie Perkins.

Why is that?

Well, she loves Hot British Men, but who doesn't? Also, she has supercool blue streaks in her hair. Make that SUPERKEWL.

But what makes her really awesome?

Anna and the French Kiss
, her debut novel, is full of awesome things, like kissing cute French boys.

And you know what?

Stephanie is giving away a rare Advanced Reader Copy of Anna at her blog, so you should go enter her contest to win it!

Except, I want to win it. Because seriously? Kissing cute French boys? I am SO THERE.

A couple of weeks ago, I read Linger by Maggie Stiefvater.

This book was the sequel to Shiver, and it's one of those books that makes me want to stop writing.

That's a compliment! I swear!

You see, Stiefvater's prose is so eloquent it makes me want to stop writing because it makes me think I'll never write as well as she can.

I don't want to give anything major away, so I'll just say it left me wanting more, and dying for the final book Forever to be released. I would post the synopsis of the book, but it gives away parts of Shiver for those of you that haven't read it yet. So you'll all have to trust me when I say that this book made my heart ache in ways I didn't previously know were possible. I was left gasping for breath, hungering for more.

Also, Sam = SWOON.

This is how I picture him:

Only, with yellow eyes, of course.

You know what's kewl? You can go win your very own SIGNED copies of Shiver and Linger at the First Novels Club! That is, if I don't :)

A Case of the Mondays

I have no idea what to post about.

I go back to college in less than two weeks and I'm not anywhere close to being finished with my current draft of The Quiet Calling like I had originally planned. But, the strange thing is, I'm okay with that.

*gasp* Say WHAT?

I usually hate missing my self-imposed deadlines. But I seem to write better at school. Don't ask me why, it's just the way it is.

Anywho, blog ideas, anyone? I'm planning an epic vlog (to be released early next month), so I guess that's something to look forward to.

BLERGH. Monday.

Eek! I just thought of something to post, but it will have to wait until tomorrow. Here's a preview:

What? I've gotta keep you coming back for more :)

Who Do You Write Like?

According to I Write Like, I write like Margaret Mitchell (Gone With the Wind). Only in The Sequel to The Quiet Calling, though. Apparently The Quiet Calling is most like Stephen King, which perplexes me a little. *shrug*

Try it out and let me know what famous author you write like, and if you think it is a proper assessment. I think it's so cool!

In other news, I am procrastinating right now. Back to work!

Resident Expert: Oscar Wilde

First, thanks for the welcome back comments on Wednesday. I missed everyone too! I promise I'll be back to visiting everyone's blogs soon.

Also, RaNdOm capitalization has been APPROVED by the masses! All letters are EQUAL on this bLog.

So. Oscar Wilde.

I've been reading The Picture of Dorian Gray for FUNSIES this past week and it's incredible. Seriously. Probably one of my new favorite books.

Why, you ask? It feels so REAL. Wilde writes poetically but realistically in my opinion. He'll describe the setting in some florid paragraph and then characters like Lord Henry and Dorian Gray will speak, say rather horrible things, actually, and it kinda puts everything in its place. If that makes sense. Maybe others that have read it will get what I'm trying to say. I'll probably talk more about this book once I finish it; there's simply too much to cover right now.

Besides Dorian Gray, Wilde was a FASCINATING guy. For reals. He was a poet, artist of sorts, novelist, journalist, and playwright. What COULDN'T the man do?! Mariah has a literary crush, if you couldn't tell. If he was a rock star I would throw him my panties (THERE'S a visual you can pretend you didn't just imagine).

Plus, when I'm reading, I can imagine my CELEB boyfriend, Ben Barnes, as Dorian Gray.

*le drool*

See? Resident Expert Friday is always hawt, even if I'm talkin' 'bout an author.

Hello Blogosphere! It is I, Mariah Irvin, and I return to you ready to share more randomness than ever before! Let us voyage into the Internets in search of distractions when we should be writing!

I need to work on my intros. They're always over the top.

Anywho, I'M BACK. My blogging still won't be at it's normal weekday schedule, but I WILL post more often than every two weeks. PROMISE.

I will also CAPITALIZE random words or phrases more than ever.*

August is going to be a busy busy busy month for me. There is sooooooo much revision for me to do in The Quiet Calling and only a month in which to do so. Also, so many books to read and sooooooooo little time.

In honor of August, I've sketched August Phoenix from The Quiet Calling. Our relationship has been a bit rocky lately, but that doesn't mean I don't think he's hawt.

I think August is going to be a good month.

*This is a lie. OR MAYBE IT'S NOT.
