What Do You Watch?

I'm now officially a Broadcast Journalism major, and as such I've been told to watch lots of television. I mean LOTS. It's hard to, sometimes, because I have such a busy schedule, and when I do I get a little TOO addicted!

I've been learning a lot about programming and audiences and such, and it's made me start to wonder... what do YOU watch? Are you like me and don't have that much time to do it? Do you watch your favorite shows live or on tape? Or even online? What channels do you normally watch, and what times do you watch them?

Oh, curiosity :)

I only watch shows online, because I'm living in Denmark and all that. Some of the shows do get broadcasted on Danish tv but with delay, and some don't even get to be aired here (which is sad).
Plus, when I watch it online I can fit it into my own schedule.

My m.o. is to watch it online, and if I love the show, I buy it on DVD.

The lists of shows I watch, in no particular order:
- Breaking Bad (AMC)
- Dr. who (BBC)
- House (fox)
- Vampire Diaries
- Community
- The Big Bang Theory
- Torchwood
- Secret Diary of a Call Girl
- The Good Wife
- Fringe
- Californication
- Mad Men
- Chuck
- Weeds
- Supernatural
- Being Erica
- Sherlock Holmes - British mini-series
- Dexter
- True Blood
- Covert Affairs

Those are the shows that are currently on air - ... So yeah. I watch a lot of tv-shows. I also try to watch the first few episodes of the new shows, just to see if they're good or not.

I don't really watch much TV. We only have basic cable. But here's what I do watch, when I remember:

-America's Next Top Model (yes...I can't help but watch that one...)
-Who Do You Think You Are? (Awesome genealogy show on NBC)
-Undercover Boss (sometimes)
-Local news. Can't help it, but I like to stay informed about what's going on in my city and the world.
-A LOT of Netflix. Best thing ever.

My favorites: So You Think You Can Dance, America's Best Dance Crew, and The Sing Off.

What I watch when I can’t watch my favorites: America's Got Talent, Live to Dance, American Idol, and Face Off.

What I watch when I’m really hard up for something: America's Funniest Home Videos, Two and a Half Men, and Colossal Construction.

I watch most things recorded so that I can skip commercials. I hate how commercials are louder than regular TV, so the result is that I don’t watch any I can avoid (except the progressive commercials with Flo). If I even notice a commercial for Roni Deutch, or any type of tax debt representation or loan consolidation junk, I will change the channel and not go back for the day.

My frequent haunts for movies are SyFy, ABC Family, and FX – once again, I prefer recorded over live.

My least favorite part about watching many movies is the fact that I have to lower the volume in the action scenes to keep from waking my baby, but then I can’t hear anything said during the next scene.

Hmmm.... I may have answered more than you asked.

Thanks for your answers everyone!

I should probably share now, too :)

Where to begin? I watch Doctor Who, Merlin, Sherlock, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory, Glee, and more that I can't think of at the moment!

The Food Network is my guilty pleasure :D
